Our Sponsors

Learn about the organizations that make it all happen.

What is Experiential Learning?

Every project you see showcased on this site tells a story about experiential learning. So, how does it all come together?

It starts with a mission-driven organization anywhere in the world bringing us a challenge. Is, for example, the organization’s website telling the story of its brand? Are new employees being trained effectively? Do its social media channels reach the right audiences?

Guided by an instructor with years of practical experience, a student team then engages in discovery with the sponsor. They analyze the situation, ask questions, test assumptions, and come up with recommendations that can be acted upon. The learning is multi-dimensional: students interacting with instructors, sponsors, and other students.

Who Are Our Project Sponsors?

Fashion Revolution

Fashion Revolution’s has become the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilizing citizens, industry, and policymakers through our research, education and advocacy work. The overall goal is this: “a global fashion industry that conserves and restores the environment and values people over growth and profit.”

Over the past three years, Fashion Revolution has challenged our student teams to tackled the following projects:

Solstice Community Solar

Solstice Community Solar was founded on the belief that every American household can be powered by affordable renewable energy. By deploying community solar installations, Solstice works for greater energy equity and a future in which clean energy works for every American household, regardless of income level, credit score, or any other factor.

For an example of a recent project sponsored by Solstice, see the video ads created by a team of Digital Media students in their master’s capstone course.

Akvo Foundation

Akvo Foundation is a non-profit foundation that builds open source internet and mobile phone software which is used to make international development cooperation and aid activity more effective and transparent. We provide the software as a service, backed by a partner-support and training team.

Hear what Akvo’s marketing communications manager had to say about her experience working with Husky Communications students in this video.
