In her blog, alumna Stacy Raine, CPS’17, shares her perspectives on many issues facing communicators, especially those working in the non-profit sector.
In her most recent post, she discusses communication with donors during the coronavirus pandemic and makes several excellent suggestions.
I couldn’t agree more with Stacy: “We’re all in this together, helping each other get through a very tough time. I keep hearing that we need to “be human” together, and I couldn’t agree more. Be human, focus on helping people get through this crisis through providing opportunities to connect and learn, and build engagement with your donors.”

Stacy, your blog resonated with me as my own organization is doing its best to communicate with donors during the pandemic. I work for KIPP Texas, an organization of 55 KIPP schools in four Texas cities. We educate 29,000 students – mostly in underserved communities – and contributions are critical. My development colleagues (I’m in MarCom) put together a fund for those with greatest need and our donors contributed more than $780,000 to help. Now, we’re in a Phase 2 of the program and we are promoting the heck out of it!
Thank you for sharing, Catherine! Pleased to hear this piece was valuable to you. Good luck with your campaign!
